Skreddy Pedals BC109

Adjustable but not refined—an angry, raw, vintage-style 2-transistor fuzz with extra controls and tweaks to let you recreate oodles of classic fuzz sounds with minimum hassle

The Skreddy Pedals™ BC109 FUZZ is made from silicon transistors for power and temperature stability, but it's darkened so you can get germanium-ish effects out of it too.

The 2 transistors are piggybacked for better tone (smoother, lower noise than single transistors), giving this circuit 4 transistors total.

The extra controls let you emulate different classic fuzz tones from the 60's and early 70's along with improvements for some of the issues those early fuzzes had (noise reduction, adjustable tone, and input impedance selector switch).

This can be a rude, biting fuzz or a creamy-sounding fuzz or a fizzy, nasty velcro fuzz, depending on how you set it up.  If you want good guitar-volume clean up, turn the bias up high.  If you want 60's style mayhem, turn it down low.

No special power requirements, just regular negative ground 9v.

Classic Fuzz Tones

  • From thin and buzzy to clear and cutting to rich and thick and syrupy
  • Selectable input resistance lets it work great with humbuckers and get along with other effects too
  • Stable at all temperatures but very sensitive to guitar volume knob changes
  • Just leave the fuzz knob cranked or backed down a touch
  • True bypass, LED, standard 9v power jack

Controls:

VOLUME
Gives you a LOT more output volume than most classic fuzzes, with unity gain around noon and plenty of boost beyond that.
BIAS
Lets you go from buzzy and low-fi to clear, louder, and more present. Sometimes referred to as a "MIDS" control since it does give you more (or less) of those too.
VOICE
Lets you go from bright and articulate to smooth and syrupy with that lovely upper-harmonic emphasis you hear in classic fuzz recordings. It's really nothing more than an extra guitar tone control. This fuzz sounds so sweet with the tone rolled down that you will love having this dedicated control right where it's at, freeing up the guitar knobs for all your other applications.
FUZZ
Sets the gain for this whole thing. Most fuzzes of this type sound best with the fuzz turned either all the way up or dialed back just a touch from max (in my opinion).  Gets milder and darker as you turn down.
HB / SC

Adds either a little or a lot of resistance to the input in order to keep a humbucker pickup from swamping the circuit and causing it to have a gated attack. But it's also useful for helping this fuzz work together with other effects (like to keep a wah pedal from making that siren sound you get from driving it into a vintage-style fuzz, or that extreme, trebly fuzz you get if you use a buffered pedal in front, for example).

Notes:

To get lower-gain, overdrivey sounds (like some germanium-equipped fuzzes), just set the impedance selector to "HB".

Volume stays at unity gain, around noon, more or less, depending on the bias setting, which will interact with and require adjustments to the volume.

Fuzz stays either at max or backed down just a hair.  Your guitar volume will go from all-out fuzz at 10 to distortion at 9, heavy overdrive at 8, and all the way clean down at 3 or so.

These settings were worked out using a Stratocaster guitar.

Clock settings: 5:00 = max, 7:00 = min

Obviously your mileage may vary; just think of these as starting points...

*Sounds kinda like… bias voice hb/sc
Eric Johnson/silicon Fuzz Face 10:00 9:00 SC
Jimi Hendrix/germanium Fuzz Face 9:00 2:00 HB
David Gilmour/silicon Fuzz Face 4:00 1:00 SC

*These names are just used for comparison purposes; no artists have endorsed this product, and Skreddy Pedals does not own the names "Fuzz Face" or "Tone Bender."

Power

9v battery is not included. If you use a battery, then remember to un-plug the input cable from the pedal’s input jack when not in use to prevent draining (or you can also just plug in a power-supply, which disconnects the battery).

You may supply external power through an AC adapter. All Skreddy Pedals accept the industry-standard 9v DC plug (5.5mm barrel x 2.1mm center coax), negative tip. Please use a quality, regulated, filtered power supply.

Smooth, Rich Coffee That Makes Every Morning Better
Flavor Name: Espresso, Size: 35.2 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I have tried so many coffee brands over the years but Lavazza Espresso Whole Bean Coffee has really become one of my favorites. The instant I opened the bag, the smell was wonderful. It smelled like rich, fresh coffee, and my kitchen instantly turned into a cozy little café. The smoothness and balance of flavor is what I like about this coffee. Some espresso coffees can be too bitter or strong but this one has a very nice medium roast taste that is rich without being overbearing. It tastes slightly sweet and creamy, so it is good both as regular coffee and in espresso drinks. I run these beans through my espresso machine every morning and they grind beautifully. The crema is thick and a beautiful golden color, which makes my homemade lattes and cappuccinos all the more special. Even my husband who is very particular about coffee said how fresh and flavorful it is. The 2.2-pound bag is also a great value, as it lasts a long time, even in a house full of coffee drinkers. I like that the beans stay fresh when sealed properly and I have not had any oily/stale beans in the bag. I also like that this coffee gives you a nice energy boost and doesn't taste harsh or acidic. It's smooth enough that I can drink more than one cup without it upsetting my stomach. Overall, I think Lavazza Espresso Whole Bean Coffee is a great choice for anyone who loves strong, smooth coffee with a high-end cafe taste at home. I will definitely keep buying this for my daily coffee habit.

Solid coffee, good intro to Lavazza
Flavor Name: Espresso, Size: 35.2 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I've used this and it's genuinely good coffee. The 100% Arabica beans produce a smooth, clean cup with a nice aroma and solid crema. No bitterness, easy to drink and works well in both espresso and drip. That said, if you're deciding between this and the Lavazza Barista Gran Crema or Qualita Oro, I'd go with those every time. The flavor is richer, the crema is thicker and the overall experience is just a step above. This one is still a solid 4.5 in my book, rounding up to 5, but the Gran Crema and Oro are my personal go to. If you're new to Lavazza this is a great starting point. You won't be disappointed.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great Coffee, but Price Fluctuates a Lot
Flavor Name: Espresso, Size: 35.2 Ounce (Pack of 1)
The Lavazza Espresso whole bean coffee is very good quality. The medium roast is smooth, balanced, and works well for espresso, lattes, and cappuccinos. Beans grind evenly and produce a nice crema. My only issue is the price instability. Sometimes it’s around $17, which is an excellent value, but other times it jumps to $26, which feels high for the same product. Because of this, it’s best to watch the price and buy when it drops. Overall, great coffee with consistent flavor — just keep an eye on pricing before purchasing.

My everyday espresso bean — fresh-ground changes everything
Flavor Name: Espresso, Size: 35.2 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I've gone through more bags of this than I can count — it's become my default espresso bean and I don't see that changing. I grind it fresh for espresso and the difference vs. pre-ground is immediately noticeable — more crema, better aroma, cleaner taste. If you're still buying pre-ground, this is a good reason to stop. Flavor-wise it's smooth and approachable — medium roast means no harsh bitterness, no aggressive dark-roast smokiness. Just clean, well-balanced espresso. The 100% Arabica shows; it doesn't have that robusta edginess you get in cheaper blends. The 2.2lb bag is good value compared to buying smaller bags or anything from a specialty roaster. For everyday home espresso, the price-to-quality ratio is hard to beat. Only mild gripe: the bag isn't the most resealable after the first open — I transfer mine to an airtight container. Minor inconvenience for a bean this good.

New Favorite Coffee
Flavor Name: Espresso, Size: 35.2 Ounce (Pack of 1), Flavor Name: Espresso, Size: 35.2 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Let me start out by saying I am a coffee fiend. I drink it all hours of the night and day and I've tried just about every brand you can think of. I took a chance ordering this and I'm so glad I did! Reading the other reviews helped me so I hope this helps someone else, too. No one is paying me for my opinion, I'm not getting a single thing for writing this except the satisfaction of reporting on a quality product. Not only is it a good price for how much you get, (09/25- $22 for 35.2 oz) but this is some of the smoothest coffee I've ever tasted. The beans are so shiny and just pretty. They're not all dried out and dull and dessicated looking like some coffees... The beans smell so good in the bag and even better once I've ground them. They grind up very quickly and easily too. There's no bitter aftertaste. Just pure, delightful, delicious coffee. I got the 5/10 espresso, and it's perfect for me. it's just strong enough. I like medium-strong roasts, so if you prefer darker or lighter roasts they have plenty of other options. I use both a drip coffee pot and a French press and this works beautifully in both. The crema in the French press is gorgeous. It's so far above other brands- even Seattle's best and eight o clock and Cameron's, which I thought I really liked... They don't hold a candle to this. I can't wait to try the other flavors.
