Organic Belted Cotton Shirt Dress

A Timeless Garment of Grace, Culture & Conscious Living

At BeachCandy, we believe clothing should be more than fabric—it should tell a story, hold intention, and feel like a second skin. Our Organic Belted Cotton Shirt Dress, handcrafted in India by skilled artisans, is all of these things and more. It’s a piece that honors tradition, elevates the everyday, and gently treads on the Earth we love.

This isn’t just a shirt dress—it’s a work of living art. Made from 100% organic Indian cotton and dyed with ancient vegetable-based techniques like mud and turmeric, each dress reflects the profound legacy of India’s rich textile heritage. Every thread, every button, every brush of dye is handled with care by small-batch artisans whose families have perfected the craft of block printing for generations.

From the Earth, For the Soul

The fabric used in this piece is unlike any other—pure organic cotton, grown without chemicals, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers. It breathes with you, moves with you, and honors the natural intelligence of your skin. No stiffness. No toxins. Just an airy softness that feels as good as it looks.

Dyed with mud, turmeric, and other plant-based pigments, the dress comes in two deeply intentional prints:

  • The Marbled Mud Dye – A neutral earthy tone with a subtle marble texture, grounding you in nature.

  • The Vibrant Turmeric Third Eye Print – A bold print with spiritual significance, designed to awaken the senses and elevate your energy.

Because we use only natural dyes and traditional printing methods, no two dresses are the same. Each one is a limited edition expression of individuality, just like the women who wear them.

More Than Just a Dress

The beauty of this shirt dress lies in its function as much as its form. The collared neckline and coconut shell buttons create a crisp, tailored appearance that can be styled for work, while the lightweight cotton and belted waist offer ease and comfort for everyday wear. It’s polished yet relaxed. Structured yet soft. It’s your go-to dress whether you’re heading to a coastal retreat, a weekend brunch, or simply want to feel put together with zero effort.

Button it up for the boardroom. Unbutton it over a bikini as a vacation cover-up. Pair it with sneakers or sandals, heels or bare feet. This is a garment for every hour of the day—and every version of you.

Crafted with Integrity, Designed for Impact

This dress is born from a beautiful partnership with a small artisan village in India, where craftsmanship is revered and production is done slowly, ethically, and sustainably. No factories. No shortcuts. Just people—real human hands pouring intention into every seam.

By wearing this dress, you're supporting more than just the artisan who made it. You're helping preserve ancient knowledge, creating fair opportunities, and championing a way of fashion that respects people and planet alike.

Why Organic Cotton Matters

When we say organic cotton, we mean a commitment—to your health, the health of our makers, and the health of the Earth. Unlike conventional cotton, which is often doused in chemicals and contributes to environmental degradation, organic cotton is grown using regenerative methods that:

  • Preserve soil health

  • Reduce water usage

  • Support biodiversity

  • Protect farmers from harmful exposure

  • Break the cycle of toxic textile waste

Even better? Organic cotton is stronger and longer-lasting. This means your dress will hold its shape, integrity, and vibrancy—wash after wash, season after season.

A Piece to Cherish for Years to Come

This shirt dress isn’t made for trends. It’s made for real life—timeless, adaptable, and deeply rooted in something more meaningful. It’s a staple in the Be The Change Collection because it represents everything we stand for: non-toxic living, cultural appreciation, conscious fashion, and empowered women.

We believe that what we wear should reflect who we are and what we stand for. And if you stand for elegance, ethics, and Earth-loving fashion—this dress is for you.

Cortes sails out of Cuba with a few hundred men under bad circumstances. He brings a priest along who rapes ...
Format: Paperback
Graham Hancock's War God is a novel about Cortes, the Spanish conquistador, taking over Central America in the 16th century. Although fiction, the author tells most of the story through the eyes of the Mexicas, Aztecs, Mayans, and Tlascans in the 1520s. The book begins with Montezuma tripping out on mushrooms, praying to the god Hummingbird, and sacrificing thousands of people on his pyramid. He is preparing for the return of Quetzalcoatl and wants to be ready. Two of the main characters, Malinal and Tozi, escape to influence history. Cortes sails out of Cuba with a few hundred men under bad circumstances. He brings a priest along who rapes and murders children. Other generals and captains help him first take over Ponchantan by using cannons and guns which the Mayans believe are supernatural powers. They defeat tens of thousands of people with advanced weaponry. Disappointed the city doesn't have much gold, they loot nearby towns and come up with almost nothing. They find their way to Tenochtitlan and take over instantly. Montezuma believes Cortes is Quetzalcoatl, the plumed serpent god, and doesn't even put up a fight. My Review: I bought this book because I like Graham Hancock's work on aliens and Ancient Aliens. I thought the story would have more of a supernatural twist. Tozi, one of the supporting characters, could turn invisible, but that was the extent of magic. The book fits in better with historical fiction. The story was an amazing epic. Hancock researched every angle possible, and put it into a highly entertaining story while teaching the reader about Central American history. I really loved the character of Malinal, a young woman forced into being a sex slave. Tozi the teenage witch was also interesting as she escaped from the sacrifice of Montezuma. Cortes was portrayed as a thoughtful leader who sought new lands and gold. I really enjoyed the book, but I do have one criticism. Hancock can get very wordy per my reading tastes, especially in battle scenes. Otherwise, this was a terrific read for anyone who loves history. 4.5/5 Stars http://dinaraeswritestuff.blogspot.com/

Hancock continues his exploration of good and evil -- Spoiler alert!
Format: Paperback
In this his second historical novel Graham Hancock continues his epic saga of good and evil, ancient civilizations, religions, the paranormal, and more. His recounting here of the warfare and perversity in the time of Cortes and Moctezuma is unflinching. One wonders at times what holds him in balance against the madness and carnage he depicts. There are romantic elements in the story, and a great innocence presented in the points of view of several young people of the time, and even in the personality of Cortes there are winsome elements presented, of which he must have held several in order to have become the inspired leader he became. One fascination I found is the possibility that the evil demon god of the Mexicas (popularly but inaccurately known by most as the Aztecs), Hummingbird (I won't attempt the Mexica spelling here!) may simply have been another face of the Christian god Peter, not the Peter of the New Testament but the later Peter of the Inquisition and the New World conquest. And what is this demon god up to today? I have been unable to find an update as to when Part Two of this story may be published. It does seem that GH, from a perusal of his fascinating Facebook page (see Author.GrahamHancock) has been working on it. For me it almost seems Part One is sufficient. I can fill in the outlines and projections from my own imagination. But this book is a splendid attempt at finding a mass audience, toward gaining a readership of awakening souls to help renovate our present day logjam and remove the Moctezuma's of our time. But will we, as Cortez, find ourselves unable to truly create something better? For interested readers I recommend several writers -- Jim Marrs on the Nazis' continuation after WWII, also his "Alien Agenda," David Wilcock's (a good friend and interviewer of GH) and Wes Penre's works, much of which are free online. The only real revolution is in the human heart.

Not for the squeamish...
Format: Kindle
Let me start by saying that I'm a big fan of Mr Hancock's previous books,. I have purchased and five-starred most of them. His books are well researched, well written, lucid, and a pleasure to read. Also let me freely confess that I'm a total wimp when it comes to blood-letting, have been known to faint at the sight of blood. (delicate female here, LOL!) Anyways, while I'm sure that this book is, like all of his others, well written and interesting, I just couldn't get past the gore. Sorry, Graham -- not your fault, it's my own weakness. I really struggle with the star-rating thing here. Since the weakness is mine, and I know he's such a good writer, I'll do four stars instead of three or five -- that seems like a reasonable compromise. Hopefully he'll write another series in future that stars the good "gods" instead of the bad ones.

Graham Hancock has done it! He has mastered non-fiction AND fiction!
Format: Kindle
Oh, oh, oh this is such a good book! I love Graham Hancock's non-fiction books to begin with, but this is exactly what I needed after the Game of Thrones series. After I was done, I made anyone I could read it. It was inthralling, brutal, bloody, heart wrenching and a page turner. I blew through this book and quickly ordered the second book. I love the mixture of a more fantasy style storyline and a bit of historical accuracy ( I'm not sure how much is based in fact, but I noted a few things that I have studied in the past) This is the kind of book that keeps you locked in page after page, making every chapter "the last chapter", until you realize you have read the book in 2 sittings. Love, love this book and it sequel, and can't wait for the third installment. ( I have recently purchased his second ( or first, as I am not sure which one came first) novel Entangled, and I am ecstatic to read and review that one as I hold out for the third installment of this series. While I love his non-fiction books, these are amazing, and I hope he continues writing fiction novels.
