Within the modern guitar community, the Zuul® is the industry standard for noise gating technology. Here at Fortin, we are never, ever, going to rest on our laurels and are extremely proud to bring you the pinnacle of gating functionality for electric guitar – Zuul®+; the ultimate tool for signal control and gating.

The Zuul®+ takes everything that made the original Zuul® legendary and adds multiple new, essential, features. The first thing we wanted to do was expand the ‘Key In’ functionality (that makes the gate active after OD/Boost pedals, reacting to the pure guitar signal), Zuul®+ now boasts a ‘Key Thru’ (complete with ground lift switch), that eliminates the need to split the signal externally. We have also added all new Hold and Release controls that give you everything you need to ensure you have pristine gating response in your rig.

The Zuul® didn't just participate in the noise gate revolution; it started it. Now, the Zuul®+ sets the new benchmark for professional signal control. We took the circuit that defines modern high-gain silence and engineered the ultimate solution for the touring and studio guitarist.

Why the Zuul®+ is the Pinnacle of Gating:
Integrated Signal Splitting: The new Key Thru jack (with dedicated Ground Lift) eliminates the need for external splitters. Your pedalboard wiring just got cleaner and simpler.

Studio-Grade Precision:
New Hold and Release controls allow you to sculpt the gate’s response down to the millisecond. Go from percussive, djent-style stops to smooth, natural decay without chopping off your sustain.

Dynamic Key Input:
Keeps the gate triggered by your direct guitar signal, ensuring perfect operation even after massive fuzz or distortion pedals.

Don't let noise compromise your tone. Upgrade to the Zuul®+ and experience the absolute limit of silence. Even when blacked out.

Gate: Adjusts how much level is required to open the noise gate and allow a signal to pass through.Hold: Controls the time which keeps the gate open during brief pauses in the signal source.Release: Controls the length of time the gate takes to change from open to fully closed when the hold time is over - the fade out duration. A low amount of release cuts the sound quickly, a higher amount gives a slower fade.

Built in U.S.A.;Highest grade materials selected for superior sound, response and reliability;Industry Standard 3DPT true bypass mechanical stomp;2CM, 3CM, or 4CM applications;Key In /Key Thru so no need for an external splitter; Ground lift switch for KEY IN/KEY THRU to eliminate ground loops in 3CM or 4CM applications;9-12VDC center-pin negative (fully regulated) external adapter/power supply only (not included);Power draw: 40mA (9v);Pedal Dimensions (W/D/H): 4.4” x 2.38” x 1.06” (112mm x 60mm x27 mm) excluding knobs and switches;Shipping Weight: 360g;Includes Fortin’s limited 1-year warranty;Ships globally – all published prices are USD

With the Key Control, the gate reacts to your guitar only and will not get distracted by other gain stages, or other pedals.

Hold - Controls the time which keeps the gate open during brief pauses in the signal source. Release - Controls the length of time the gate takes to change from open to fully closed when the hold time is over - the fade out duration. A low amount of release cuts the sound quickly, a higher amount gives a slower fade.

Q: Will the Zuul change the tone of my amp?
A: We are proud that the Zuul will not color the tone of your amp / signal chain. However, the Zuul will buffer the signal so if you are not already running a buffer you may feel like the Zuul inserts "top end" into your tone. The Zuul is not adding this to your tone, it is simply restoring what is already there, giving you an actual representation of the tone coming from your instrument!
Q: It's not working in the effects loop properly, what's happening?
A: One of the most common questions we get is problems in the effects loop... 99% of the time this is due to the loop being parallel and not series. In order for the Zuul to work correctly in the loop, it HAS to be in a series loop.
Q: What does the key do?
A: Placing a gate after your gain stages can prove to be annoying as the gate is looking at the effected signal to try to work out when to open and/or close. They Key In/Thru listens to what your instrument is doing only (as it is effectively first in the chain), and then opens and closes the gate according to your instrument and not any the floor noise, artifacts etc coming from your gain stages. When the Key is used and triggered by your instrument, the gate itself is set after your gain stages and before any delay/reverb effects - this way you have complete control of your gate and it will not affect your other effects.

Seeing the Creative Process for Graphic Novels
Format: Paperback
This is a fascinating look at the early creative processes writers do when they make scripts for graphic novels. The only down side to this book is it doesn't show any comparison between the scripts and the final product. I suppose that's part of the fun of this book is that you have to imagine the graphics just like the original artists did.

Great Comic
Format: Kindle
Wolverine is one of my favorite Marvel characters. He encapsulates the paradox for young adolescent boys. He’s everything we wish to be, and at the same time, everything we would be terrified to be.

A huge book that gives you the hero's beginnings.
Format: Hardcover
I own several Marvel Omnibus collections (Captain America, Miller's Daredevil run, etc) but I have to say I think this one is the biggest in terms of thickness. This has a serious page count, and is definitely worth the money you spend on it for size alone. Those coming off the Wolverine movie and interested in more of his back-story will enjoy most of this. The stories here are not put together in chronological order of publication, but rather in chronological order of when it supposedly happened in his life. That being said, it's odd that Marvel chose to leave out "Origin", since that six-part story would have made an obvious choice for the beginning of this collection. Instead, we start out with a number of "Weapon X" stories that are supposed to set the stage for his creation into a weapon. The stories are not easy to follow for a casual read, however. You'll have to invest time reading dozens of dialogue balloons over the constantly-resting pose of Logan with wires coming out of him. Not the best start they could have hoped for, but I can see the logic of it. The Wolverine/Kitty Pryde miniseries is also here for some reason. I guess its inclusion into the collection is for completist purposes, but it's not that great. Eventually, you reach the Frank Miller Wolverine mini-series that started it all and paved the way for his solo series later on. If you've read that one, you know it's a classic as we get more back story into his Samurai/Ninja training past (and it's also rumored to be the basis for the second Wolverine solo film if it gets made). This leads into the first 10 issues of his solo series as we meet Logan's "Patch" identity, his weird black "facepaint mask" costume, and the dark dealings of Madripor. The colors here are rich and vibrant. Those who were disappointed with the washed-out look of the "Essentials" collection of Wolverine stuff will find nothing but happiness here. The price is reasonable for what you're getting here. Let me say again though that this is a MONSTER of a book, so you won't be carrying this around for a casual read at the coffee shop. This is more along the lines of a serious collector book than those Essential volumes.
