Information

Our lightest tent ever, optimized for 3-season mountain adventures at a minimum weight of just 1.5 kg.

The NORTENT Ly 1 3S is the ultimate expression of our "light, spacious and strong" philosophy. It is a robust and spacious, yet light tent, offering a surprisingly spacious sanctuary for the solo adventurer. This tent is the perhaps perfect choice for long distance treks into high mountains and remote wilderness where every gram in your pack matters, yet reliable protection remains non-negotiable.

While the Ly 1 3S shares the aerodynamic DNA of the original Ly 1, we have reimagined the layout for the 3-season adventurer. We have streamlined the design by reducing the total length to 195 cm and removing one vestibule. However, we have expanded the inner tent into this space. The result is a paradox. A tent that is shorter and lighter to carry, yet offers a larger, more comfortable sleeping area than its 4-season sibling.

The Ly 1 3S is designed with clean, minimalist lines that blend seamlessly with the natural environment. As a tunnel tent, it is remarkably easy to set up, an essential feature for solo hikers who need efficient shelter after a grueling day on the trail. With a little practice, the two-pole design can be pitched in just 3-4 minutes, allowing you to settle into a warm and secure sleeping bag swiftly. Despite its record-low weight, durability is never compromised; we have reinforced all high-stress areas with one of the world's strongest fiber, ensuring that your lightest gear is also your toughest.

Solutions

The flysheet of the Ly 1 3S is crafted from our premium, ultralight silnylon 66, ARCX -N150, engineered to be 100% waterproof while keeping your pack weight at a minimum. To ensure superior weather protection without the need for manual silicone treatments, we utilize an advanced sewing construction. The seams are made with a specialized thread that expands when wet to seal stitch holes naturally. Furthermore, we use cooled needles during production to minimize the size of the punctures in the fabric. This precision engineering results in a highly water resistant seam that is ready for the trail right out of the box.

In a very light, high performance tent, managing air circulation is the key to a comfortable night. Without proper airflow, moisture from your breath and body can condense on the inside walls of the flysheet. To prevent this, the Ly 1 3S is equipped with two large, dedicated air vents. One at each end of the tent, to create a consistent "through-draft" of fresh air.

Even with the removal of one vestibule to reach our record 1.5 kg weight, you still have flexible entrance options to enhance ventilation on warmer nights. The top air vent at the vestibule are designed to function as protective overhang, allowing you to leave the entrance open for maximum airflow while remaining shielded from the rain. This ensures you stay dry, well-ventilated, and comfortable, even when the mountain weather is at its most unpredictable.

The Ly 1 3S features one spacious awning (vestibule), providing ample room for your backpack, boots, and other essential equipment. Even in this very light configuration, the awning is carefully designed to be well-suited for cooking, giving you a sheltered space to prepare meals when the mountain weather turns sour.

Inside, you will find a surprisingly roomy inner tent. Although the total length of the tent has been reduced to 195 cm, our layout actually provides a larger sleeping area than the 4 seson version. It comfortably accommodates a large 198x68 cm sleeping pad, with additional space for your gear and clothing.

For the 3S version, the inner tent is crafted from our specialized 15D DWR breathable ripstop nylon. This high-tech, water-repellent fabric is engineered to protect you from drafts and potential condensation while keeping the weight at an absolute minimum. To ensure a constant flow of fresh air while keeping insects at bay, the doors feature a hybrid construction, half mosquito netting and half regular nylon. This design provides the perfect balance for 3-season use without the added weight of extra zippers and fabric layers.

Additionally, the inner tent is equipped with two large storage pockets, ensuring you can keep your headlamp, phone, and other small essentials organized and easy to find in the dark.

One of the standout features of the Ly 1 3S is its incredible open-air system. While we have removed one entrance to save weight, the primary side opening has been optimized for maximum impact. When you open the entire side of the tent, the Ly 1 3S transforms into something resembling a traditional Norwegian Gapahauk (open-front shelter). This design provides a completely unobstructed, panoramic view of the wilderness, allowing you to breathe in the mountain air directly from your sleeping bag.

This flexibility means that even on wet or harsh days, you can stay sheltered from the wind and rain while keeping the side open to enjoy the scenery. In severe weather, the tent should of course be closed completely for total protection. For those who want the ultimate ultralight experience, the inner tent can be removed entirely, reducing the weight to under 1 kg. This allows you to use the flysheet alone as a super light open shelter, perfect for those nights when you want to sit by a small campfire and feel the true essence of the wild.

The Ly 1 3S employs pole sleeves made from a thicker and more durable fabric compared to the ultralight nylon of the flysheet. This combination is crucial for achieving the low weight of 1.5 kg while greatly enhancing the tent's overall durability and resistance to wind.

In strong winds, the thicker fabric of the sleeves distributes the force along the entire length of the poles, rather than focusing stress on specific points of the lighter 3-season material. This even distribution helps to prevent tears and damage, ensuring the tent remains sturdy and intact under harsh conditions.

The thicker fabric of the sleeves also adds essential support and stability to the tent structure, working in tandem with the lightweight flysheet to create a more resilient shelter. The sleeves allow the poles to slide through smoothly, maintaining the tent's aerodynamic shape and improving its ability to withstand strong winds without adding unnecessary bulk to your pack.

By using thicker fabric for the sleeves, the Ly 1 3S ensures that external forces are evenly spread out, reducing the risk of damage and extending the tent's lifespan. This design choice enhances the tent's performance in challenging 3-season environments, providing solo hikers with superior protection and reliability in our lightest package ever.

If you need to make the Ly 1 3S even more robust, we have designed it to accommodate double poles. This feature is made possible through our own dedicated pole cup design, where the cups are crafted from flexible and durable nylon rather than standard ABS plastic.

While the primary mission of the Ly 1 3S is to keep your pack weight at a minimum, the true beauty of this design is the strategic flexibility it offers. Imagine you are planning a solo trip where you know the weather will be challenging, perhaps an exposed mountain route with howling winds. In these specific scenarios, double poling becomes your secret weapon.

By choosing to bring an extra set of poles for a specific adventure, you gain exceptional stability and adaptability to the unexpected. It’s not just about setting up a tent; it’s about  navigating the  elements. Whether you're contending with autumn gusts or embracing a surprise snowfall, double poling offers a practical solution that takes your solo adventures to the next level. You carry the 1.5 kg when every gram counts, and you reinforce it when the elements demand it.

Accessories

We offer an optional footprint for Ly 1 (390 g). Using a footprint can extend the lifespan of the floor and shield it from potential damage, though it isn't essential for the tent's functionality. The solid 40D floor on the inner tent is with its 5000 mm HH waterproof. While the tent functions effectively without a footprint, some individuals prefer using one to keep mud away or to cover the vestibule floor. Footprints may play a role in preventing moisture from the ground from condensing on the inner surface of the outer tent. Our available footprints cover the entire underside of the tent, including the vestibules

NORTENT aluminum pegs are made of an aluminum alloy that promotes the proper properties of tent pegs. A tent peg should be strong, endure a lot of stress, but at the same time be somewhat flexible so that it bends instead of breaking straight by too much stress. Our stakes are therefore made of an aluminum alloy in the 7000 series. This is perhaps the market's strongest aluminum alloy, where our alloy has a degree of 7001 aluminum.. This is a degree of aluminum that promotes what we believe are important properties of a tent peg. Strong, but at the same time somewhat flexible. Our featherlite pegs are our lightest and smallest pegs at 8 g, where our stonghold pegs are biggest and heaviest at 24 g.

Reasonably adequate room divider
Size: 4 Panel-88'', Color: Beige
I'm reviewing this as I assemble it. Couple things: 1. I didn't expect as much assembly. I've ordered dividers before and they more-or-less came as one unit. Sometimes the panels needed screwing together. These require complete assembly and come largely as three rods: two make up vertical columns and snap together. Another one (called part "C") makes the horizontal columns and you have two of these per panel (one attaches to part "A" and the other part "B"). These parts are metal with a plastic shim. Using the wood screws to attach to part "C" is a real pain in the neck. There's not much holding the panel in place so it's a little tricky. One tactic I've found while I'm assembling that works for the initial connections from parts A and B to their respective "C" rods is to hold the screw in place with a screw driver and then rotating the rod around the screw. This will do a number on your hands if you aren't wearing gloves. This obviously doesn't work when completing the connection. Using a driller driver on this is really near impossible because there isn't anything you can use to secure it in place. You can use it on the first panel, but as it gets longer, it becomes increasingly difficult and because it isn't wood, it's really tight. I considered drilling larger pilot holes but since there are only 4x4=16 screws I need to screw in, I just decided to use my screw driver to complete it. 2. Also related to assembly. When completing the panels (attaching parts "A" and "B" to parts "C" that have the cloth cover on it), you have to be careful that when you tighten that side that it isn't loosening the other side. Because the pilot holes are so tight, you can end up rotating the rod, which rotates it in the same direction as looser on the original side. Having someone hold the "C" rod in place while you screw it in is probably the easiest approach. I didn't have a 2nd person, so I just had to keep flipping back and forth and tightening both sides as I screwed it in. Not the worlds biggest deal, but annoying nonetheless. 3. The way the instructions are written, they seem to suggest building this thing progressively; that is, you do panel 1, then 2, connect them together, then do 3 and connect it, etc. I took a different route that I suspect saved me quite a bit of trouble, and I assembled all four panels first and THEN connected everything together. 4. For the love of God make sure you check that the plastic tip is on the same side for every panel. Otherwise, you have to take one side apart again and reverse it. On the bright side, if this happens, you've essentially bored out the pilot holes to be the correct size... which is having me question if I shouldn't have just bored them out to the appropriate width in the first place. 5. Attaching all of the panels together is also an enormous pain in the ass unless you happen to have an 88" long elevated surface. Attaching the legs either requires you to elevate one side, which will invariably twist the inexplicably cheap material in the bottom connectors... or you can attach them sideways... or you can put this thing upright, having two people hold the panels in place while you use the allen wrench to tighten the bolts on the underside. None of those are particularly great options. NOW on to the utility itself. 1. The panels do let some light through (I didn't believe their advertising, and that was one of the reasons that I bought beige, is that I wanted it to not be too dark). They aren't transparent though, so it isn't that far off from their description. They functionally work great, and keep the mess of wires hidden and when I'm sitting at my desk, actually reflect quite a bit of light into my office. Great! 2. My wife has described these as "the most hideous piece of furniture ever conceived of by man." So it does not have spouse approval factor. Granted, she will seldom be in my office area, so that isn't the end of the world. 3. These are really hard to align in a way that doesn't look a little tacky. There are some plastic connectors but they don't do a bang up job of keeping these in place. Each panel is slightly tilted and it's... quite obvious. I may at some point make my own improvements to these to help make them more level. It's not a particularly expensive product so I wasn't expecting much so it's fine and I'm not going to ding them on the rating because of it. All said, would I buy this product again? Probably not. It's assembly was ~90 minutes which is about 75 minutes longer than I was anticipating spending on this (not including the 5 minute writeup that I'm doing here). But am I going to return it? Also no, if for no other reason I'd be just as annoyed taking it apart and putting it in the original box to return it.

Nice room divider!
Color: White, Size: 8 Panel
The white panels are a nice off-white color. shipped in perfect condition. Already assembled so set up was quick. We use them to separate a photo studio from the main entry. Easily covers a 6 Ft. opening to the room. They are a woven material with wood colored sticks to support the weave. They are about 6 Ft. tall at the top of the curved section but less at the hinged sections. Light and easy to set up and take down. We are straddling two different floors so the extended legs at the bottom make this easy. Not sure how to clean them but they look great so far!

Instant Privacy
Color: Beige, Size: 8 Panel
Bought this to separate a ground level living area used as an office. Works well to cover visual clutter; allows a clean look when entering the front door. Comes fully assembled. Hinges are sturdy enough, as long as the panels aren’t stretched too far; have to allow some bend between them. For the price point, quality and functionality are satisfactory.

Great Divider, Just Needed Anchoring for Outdoor Use
Color: Grey, Size: 6 Panel
This room divider is very nice—stylish, lightweight, and easy to set up. I’m using it outdoors, which may not be its intended use, and I found that wind can knock it over pretty easily. Once I anchored it down, though, it worked just fine and looks great in the space. Indoors, I imagine it would be perfect right out of the box. Overall, a solid purchase with just one small adjustment needed for my setup.
